Awareness cum Counselling Program held at GDC Tral

Awareness cum counselling program regarding Drug de- addiction under Nasha Mukht Bharat Campaign was organized by Debates, Seminar and Cultural Committee, Psychological counselling cell and NSS units of Govt. Degree College Tral on 2nd of November 2021. The program was aimed at raising awareness regarding proliferation of substance abuse and remedial measures thereof.
The inaugural session commenced with the introductory address by Prof. Bilal Ahmad Naikoo, Convenor Psychological Counselling Cell wherein he highlighted the aims and objectives of the cell. It was followed by the
inaugural address by the Principal of the college Prof.(Dr) Muhammad Farooq Mir. The Principal in his address stressed the dire need to curb the menace of drug abuse and also highlighted the importance of understanding the difference between use and misuse of drugs.
In the technical session various resource persons from the concerned field in their elaborate and interactive presentations deliberated upon various root causes, risk factors, and remedial measures to combat and overcome drug addiction. The resource persons who delivered presentations were, Prof.Aadil Bashir Sr.Associate Professor, University of Kashmir, Dr.Fazal Consultant Psychiatrist. Mr.Waseem Ahmad Kakroo Consultant Clinical Psychology.
In the counselling session Mr. Mir Zubair, Ms. Pir Nazia Saheel counselled and answered all the queries of the students and staff members related to drug abuse and mental health.
It was followed by the valedictory session in which mementos were presented to the resource persons.
The programme was moderated by Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed Dar and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof. Syeda Laila Khalid Convener, Debates and Seminar Committee.
