-Govt Degree College, Tral-

Govt. Degree College started its journey long back in the last millennium (1988). From a small temporary arrangement to the present beautiful campus, the college has been through a beautiful journey. From a few subjects to faculties of arts, science and commerce; the journey has been great. In fact, recently Clinical Biochemistry,Social Work,Statistics,Applied Mathematics,Public Admisistration and BCA were also sanctioned in the year 2018 by the Higher Education Department.

In addition it is worth mentioning that it is the only college in South Kashmir where Punjabi is taught as a subject; and that it is the only college in South Kashmir with admission procedures carried out fully online; and that the female enrolment outnumbers the male enrolment. Being in complete sync and harmony with nature the college campus has an ideal academic environment which is well-supported by a library housing over 17000 books. Besides, a spacious playing field and a well-equipped gym grace the college – ensuring that our young students have all that youth needs – proper nurturing. We have a lot of problems; but that is not a problem! with a team as competent and dedicated as we have here in GDC Tral, I am sure we can take up any issue head on – whether it is about remedial classes or about accommodation problems or about anything else. I feel it pertinent to mention that the two storeyed Science Block coming up at a cost of 491.12 lac is near to completion and Renovation of Arts Block has been completed too.The tender for Library cum Lecture Block has been floated by the R&B agency, for which work will start very soon. Construction of Auditorium, First floor of IT Block and one related to development of Sports field has also been initiated by the colege. I am sanguine that Administrative Department will accord AAA for these projects. On a personal note. I hope and pray for the legacy of good things to continue.

The preparations are on for getting the institution assessed and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore on 19th and 20 June 2019. After accreditation, the College will be eligible to seek more financial assistance from the UGC for its future developmental plans and expansion.
