Department of Botany has been at the forefront of education and research in plant sciences since its inception. The Department offers undergraduate programs aimed at developing a robust understanding of both theoretical and practical dimensions of Botany. Over the years, the Department has nurtured numerous exceptional individuals who have excelled in diverse fields. Currently, the primary objective of the Department is to provide high-quality education while fostering an applied research approach among its students. Looking ahead, the Department plans to introduce additional specialized and skill-based courses that will align with contemporary market needs, thus equipping students to compete effectively with peers from prestigious institutions.

Physical Facilities Available:
Over the years, the Department has consistently improved its infrastructure to bolster its educational and research endeavours. Few of them are listed below:
(i) Mushroom Cultivation Laboratory: The Department owns a state-of-the-art mushroom cultivation laboratory, equipped with modern facilities designed to facilitate critical research aimed at enhancing mushroom production and ensuring quality assurance.

(ii) General Laboratory/Museum:The Department boasts a well-equipped laboratory specifically tailored for the practical aspects of the curriculum. This facility is organized to provide students with ample workspace, comfortable seating, and a continuous availability of glassware, chemicals and equipment, thus fostering an exceptional learning environment for students. Furthermore, a spacious and diverse museum is housed within the Department, featuring an extensive collection of plant specimens preserved in formalin jars, showcasing their morphological, anatomical, and taxonomical characteristics. The museum also includes mould-models that illustrate the anatomical and ultra-structural details of plant organs, tissues, and macromolecules such as DNA etc. Sections dedicated to medicinal and ethnobotany further enhance the museum's appeal. The materials available in the museum serve as valuable resource for students' practical observations and demonstrations.
(iii) Lecture Hall /Smart Classroom: The Department has a spacious lecture hall/smart classroom equipped with advanced audio-visual technology, which is essential for providing high-quality education to the students.
(iv) HOD/Staff Room: The Department has a designated space for the Head of the Department and faculty members to carry out academic and college committee works.
(v) Lab Staff- Cum- Instrumentation Room: The Department includes a dedicated space for laboratory staff which also accommodates instrumentation and equipment necessary for conducting experiments.
(vi) Herbal Garden (under development):The Department is currently in the process of developing Herbal Garden that will cover an approximate area of 5000 square feet.
